Hello mmirsamii and thanks for the question about the idiom “might is right.” From the website thefreedictionary I got this definition:
The belief that you can do what you want because you are the most powerful person or country.
In other words, powerful entities (people, businesses, governments) can get their way because they are powerful (and not because they are right!).
Often, we use this in a very disagreeing tone, as if we’re saying: “I wish it wasn’t true that the most powerful force can decide the ‘facts’ or get their way, but that’s the way it is.”
