Japan

I hope I can go to Japan to visit. I heard a lot of things about Japan that is a country of science and technology. Everything gets a present time and very colorful. I think it’s very interesting for anyone want to come.

Japanese really love to eat fish. Sushi is the most famous Japanese foods fish outside of Japan, and one of the most popular foods among the Japanese themselves who usually enjoy sushi on special occasions. I used to eat Sushi at a Japanese restaurant in Vietnam, really well! But I think in Japan is pretty better.

Japanese love to drink tea, too. Nowadays, the tea ceremony is a relatively popular kind of hobby. Many Japanese, who are interested in their own culture, take tea ceremony lessons with a teacher. Tea ceremonies are held in traditional Japanese rooms in cultural community centers or private houses.

And the thing I surprise very much is Japanese usually have a nude bathing at a public bathroom. It is a very popular way of relaxing and a cultural experience that is quite unique and enjoyable. However, it can also be intimidating experiences for anyone are not familiar with it. Anyway, I’ll try to have a bathing in Japan if I could.

Also Japan has Karate, Judo, Aikido, Kendo, and Sumo… is very popular martial art at many countries in the world. Exercise one of them is the best way protecting yourself and having a good health.

Yeah! Japan is very wonderful. But it is quite expensive to live. Things cost much more there. So, everyone will make more as well.

This is my small essay about Japan in my English class. I hope it’s not too bad. I know Japan is more wonderful with a lot of things I didn’t know and I hope someone else can tell me more. Thanks for reading very much!

    Hello scleonis,
I’m really impressed by your essay about Japan. I’m Japanese and it’s interesting to know how people in other countries think about our country and people. Yes, as you mentioned, we love sushi very much! Japanese people like Chinese food, Italian food, French food, Korean food, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut, almost everything…and of course sushi!!! Our family often goes to sushi bar. When I was small, we didn’t have and couldn’t imagine some kind of sushi which we eat now. For example, sushi with corn, sushi with avocado, sushi with meat… I think these variety of sushi is the result of globalization of Japanese food. My kids love these new kinds of sushi as well as traditional ones.

I’m sorry to say that I’ve never been to Vietnam and only Vietnam food I know is rice paper.(I really love it!!! I usually eat Rice paper with boiled shrimp, sliced cucumber, sesame seeds, lettuce, and soy sauce) And I can say rice paper is one of foreign foods which we didn’t know 30 years ago.
It’s always wonderful to know about other countries and I believe foreign food help us to feel friendly toward foreign people.

I went to Taiwanese restaurant the other day. That was the first time I tried Taiwanese food. It was really nice. I’ll try Vietnam food if I find one here!

    Hello scleonis,
Great job on your composition about Japan. The public baths that you speak of are called ‘onsens’ in Japanese and they’re great places. The water is from a natural source and very relaxing and therapeutic for sure.

Just so readers understand, onsens in Japan are almost always separated by gender – men and women have completely different bathing areas within the same onsen complex. This way, it’s a lot less intimidating!

Hiromi, thanks for commenting about food in Japan. I’m getting hungry!

I’m glad there are some new kinds of sushi like avocado and corn … I’m vegetarian and don’t eat sushi that contains any kind of fish or other meat!
